REACH/CLP

Atlántica Agrícola is involved in all the regulatory compliance established in the chemical industry. In this case, we work exhaustively and constantly to implement and comply with each of the requirements established by these regulations related to chemical products, such as REACH and CLP.

Atlántica Agrícola registers all the substances it manufactures and also, as a downstream user, checks its suppliers and the raw materials supplied to ensure that it works with suppliers that have REACH registrations.  We carry out studies of our products to define the hazard classifications of each product.  We produce and update our Safety Data Sheets (Regulation (EU) 2015/830), as these are the accepted method of providing information on substances and mixtures in the European Union and form an integral part of the system established by Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 (REACH). We submit notifications of dangerous products to all poison control centres in the EU countries where Atlántica Agrícola is present (article 45 of Regulation (EU) 1272/2008), which are the bodies in charge of receiving information on health response in case of emergency.

WHAT IS REACH?

Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
This is the European Regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical Substances and Mixtures. It was approved on December 18, 2006 and entered into force on June 1, 2007.

OBJECTIVES

  • Ensure a high level of protection of human health and the environment.
  • Promote the free movement of substances in the internal market while enhancing competitiveness and innovation.

Atlántica Agrícola as a manufacturer, importer and downstream user has some responsibilities under REACH.

WHAT IS CLP?

Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
The CLP Regulation is the new European regulation on classification, labelling and packaging of dangerous chemical substances and mixtures, amending and repealing Directives 67/548/EEC and 1999/45/EC and amending Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH).
This new Regulation introduces a new system for classifying and labelling chemicals in the European Union based on the United Nations Globally Harmonised System (UN GHS).

OBJECTIVES

  • Harmonisation of criteria for the classification of substances and mixtures, and labelling and packaging rules for hazardous substances and mixtures.
  • Development of a Community list of substances with their harmonised classification and labelling elements (Annex VI, Part 3 CLP).
  • Creation of a classification and labelling inventory of substances on the basis of notifications and registrations under REACH and the Community list of substances with harmonised classification and labelling.

This Regulation aims to implement in the EU the international criteria agreed in the United Nations’ Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). In addition, another objective is to approximate and unify existing legislation on the criteria for classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures.
